I checked the fuses with a meter and twisted the tubes and replaced the ballasts. When I scan, the wheel turns and the turntable turns too. But in operation mode, it doesn’t move when I make a selection. The buttons don’t pop up after being pressed down. It all worked fine before I installed the tube. The tube is dead. Installing WurliTzer 2400 and 2800 glass.
by Shankar Singh 05 Aug '26

I need to install top door glass for a 2400 and top and front glass for a 2800. I am not experienced with the installations. I would appreciate advice on how to go about doing these. Where can i get the U rubber liners that go around the glasses? How do I determine the sizes required? I have seen nice bright lighting effects thrown onto the speaker grilles from above. How can I get such effects? Any recommendation for replacement light diffusers behind the see through signs? I think this is more applicable for the top of the 2800. The old ones hardly pass any light. Instead of the top lamp on the 2400 throwing light on the top of the title board, is there a way to safely light it from behind the title board without any risk to the records? I would like to replace the fluorescent tubes with LEDs. I am thinking about using something like 1” diameter PVC pipe that can span the width of the juke and wrap LED strip lights around it. Suggestions and working solutions that can be shared will be appreciated. Many thanks Shankar Singh

AMI G 80 amp
by Tony Miklos 04 Aug '26

On all of these I have ever worked on, the "fidelity equalizer" adjustment where position 1 is drastically different than settings 2 and 3. It's hard to find a good setting for it. Is there any modification to help with this so the 1 setting isn't so drastic? Or maybe adjust position 2 somewhere closer to position 1? Tony

Wurlitzer Volume box question
by M De Simone 03 Aug '26

03 Aug '26

Here’s one for the old timers, I’m working on a model 771 amplifier from a Wurlitzer 616 and the complaint is, “ There is significant hum primarily at 60Hz as seen in the attached spectrograms. The hum is 30dB SPL over the noise floor, is constant regardless of volume and is still there when the input is disconnected.” I set up the amplifier on my bench and played an iPod through it with field coil and volume box from the jukebox and I get perfect sound and dead quiet with or without input. I rebuilt the amp a few years ago but was surprised when I saw the volume box modification, it just had straight wires to volume pot and back out again. I’m only familiar with the mods for the 1940’s volume boxes. Is it different for these early amplifiers? I’m at a loss as to what might be causing this hum in his jukebox but was curious about the lack of resistor or capacitors in the volume box. Anybody familiar with these? Thanks, Mauro Sent from my iPhone

I received an email saying I was removed from the list because of too many bounces. Added the email to my contacts so hopefully this will stop it. Just testing to see if this email gets through. Have been missing the messages, thought things were just quiet. Peter

Ristaucrat non-select
by Hans Minderman 29 Jul '26

29 Jul '26

Working on restoring a non-selective ristaucrat and I'm puzzled about 2 cut off switches for the tone arm wiring. One cut off switch is a combination leaf switch in the front that also serves as the turntable power cutoff if no credits remain. The second cutoff is also a leaf switch that is currently activated during the record change. What puzzles me is that these switches are closed -making connection- when the system is inactive (switch 1 when power to the tt motor is cut b/c of no remaining credits and switch 2 during record exchange) while both these switches are open during record play. If anyone has any insights in this please let me know. I can find ways to bypass these switches but I prefer to hook everything up as intended. I suspect that leafswitch #2 should be closed during playing and should be opened during the record exchange. Those leafs were bent apart by a previous owner who did some creative bypassing. The other thing I don't quite get is why there would be two cut-off switches for the sound. Wouldn't one suffice? Thank you! Has anyone tried subbing a 6P3S for a 6L6? And how did it go?
