Hi, all,
I have a Wurlitzer 2410S that has become slightly unreliable clamping the record. I made a small adjustment to the lift arm height that might have fixed it. But the machine is in a position where the cancel button is hard to reach, so in case it happens again, I was thinking a remote cancel button would be a good idea.
I was assuming that it'd be possible to wire something like a doorbell button somewhere. I was surprised to see adding a remote cancel button wasn't covered in the manual I have, not even mention of an available remote to add to it. And from reading the schematics, it looks like it might take a 3-wire, SPDT switch, not just a normally open "doorbell" switch to make this happen.
Is that right? Was there an offical remote switch that could be added? How did it connect?

The actual cancel button was just a standard SPST (doorbell) button. There is a relay that fits on the amp where the mech plugs. The relay is SPDT and 24VDC.
This i had (have) a few of these buried here. It could easily be made.

OK, that matches what I saw in the schematic. And, in fact I was thinking in terms of putting in a relay myself.
Do you happen to know where it plugs into the mech? If I'm looking at the right socket, I can probably figure out how to wire something up.

Not relating to the remote cancel wiring, but to your clamping issue.
If you find that your small adjustments haven't fixed it, or it happens regularly on some records and not others - recently I went out to repair a 2100 and it had this issue, and it drove me nuts. In the end I cracked it. One of the back stop pawls was ever so slightly misadjusted. Instead of the lift arm opposite the selected record rising slightly to clamp the carousel steady, it was rising slightly into the opposite records slot. The upshot of this is that the actual arm that you want to push the record, doesn't push it as far as it should, and it slightly misses the clamp causing it to jam. It's ever so easy to see it happening so if you get the problem, check from the back to see if this is the case.

My wife simply powered off the jukebox when it was stuck.
STUPIDLY, I did not see whether the original problem was record clamping or not, nor did I check which selection was playing when it was stuck. Hindsight is a beautiful thing.
Just powering it on and pressing the cancel button did clear the problem, there were more selections registered so it went on to play them (and therefore immediately moved away from the slot that had the problem).
Eventually, I did find a record that didn't play right, and I noticed that it wasn't clamping properly. I did somehow remember that the original problem was a B side, and this one had the problem on the B side, too.
I noticed that the design is that the lift arm should lift the record high enough that the turntable's clamp should enter the record hole, and the record's hole should slide up the slanted portion of the clamp, enough that the record is lifted off the lift arm and clear of it while playing. What seemed to be happening was the record wasn't quite high enough, and the turtable clamp hit the record instead of entering the hole.
So I adjusted the lift arm limit just slightly, played the same selection 10 times without problem. So I may have fixed it.
Thanks again for your input. I wrote all this mostly to warn people to remember to look at what selection is in place when something is stuck, before freeing things up!

Hi Steve,
If this only happens on one record, check the slot gap of the opposite record on the carousel. That one slot may have bent dividers causing the "locking arm" to rise up instead of jamming to support the carousel.
I would also try a different record, in that slot, as it could be an undersized record, or a record with a small or off centre, centre hole.
Lots of options but you'll get it sorted.
