Hi all, For later stereo Seeburg cartridge with the yellow / green / purple shoe type styli, I am sure a few years back someone was selling the replacement holder assembly – the clip part where the cartridge pins sit in the tonearm, and the flat locator clips in the tonearm. I need to replace the one I have. I’m pretty certain it was Ron Rich that mentioned the new replacement part a good few years back. The older ones can get loose and troublesome even with the pin sleeves tight. Does anyone know it ? Thanks Nigel, UK

Wurlitzer 530 amplifier Low Volume

Another amplifier issue! A W530 that has been recapped and any out of tolerance resistors replaced. Tubes all check good. I’m getting about 50% to 60% of gain it should have. I’ve run some tests and found the DC voltages are all low at the tube pins by about 20%. I’ve checked anything I could think of but no luck. Looking for advice as Im not well versed enough to understand where the voltages come from. Can anyone tell me what exactly the 4 section electrolytic capacitor C34 does? I’m suspecting it, as I replaced C35 (the other one) but C34 tested perfect so I left it in, just for now. Any help appreciated, Mauro Sent from my iPhone

780 Fuse blows

The amp was recapped two years ago and the box has been playing fine until recently. When there was no sound when recent selection was made then I checked the fuse. It was blown and continues to blow replacements. Sent from the all new AOL app for iOS

Still trying to chase down the reason the amp fuse blows. I replaced the 5Z3 tube for the chance that it might have a short as was suggested. That wasn’t the cause. I removed all plugs into the amp and made selections and as I replaced one at a time as a process of elimination. The fuse only blows when the speaker is plugged in. Any help please. AMI F80 Hum problem

Can anyone help me with this please. In the video is my G80 with a rebuilt amplifier. It plays beautifully. However, the other cartridge a when plugged into the amplifier makes a continuous humming noise. It will play fine but still hums. I cannot figure out why it continues to do this. Wurlitzer 1100 not making selections - resolved

Hi Jim Dirksen and all, Thanks for the reply. I'll answer your questions to assist others who may have this issue in the future along with my successful fix. Yes, the selection light was lit. No action at all when a button was pressed. Pins were not moving. Mech motor was plugged in. I remembered that I had Harold Hagen's compilation of Wurlitzer tech tips so I took it out. In the Dr. Know It All Wurlitzer volume #1 reference book, page 67, there's an article titled "intermittent selections in Wurlitzer 1100". From the entire tech tip, here's what applied to my issue - "There are other switches in the selector coil circuit in the Coin Register Unit (grinder), so check them first: contacts 3 and 4 on the Timing Switch (activated by the cancel solenoid), and contacts 3 and 4 in the coin isolation relay. Make sure the contacts are clean and adjusted properly." Next, I went to my repair manual to see what a cancel solenoid looked like. From there, I saw the set of contacts actuated by the cancel solenoid. They appeared to be okay. Next I found what the coin isolation relay looked like and checked those related contacts. Well, I'll be..... one of the three sets of contacts was stuck together! I cut up a brown paper bag into a few little strips, sprayed the strips with contact cleaner, and cleaned all of the contacts in the coin register mechanism. I powered up the 1100 and voila, I was able to select tunes again. Grateful indeed. Check the bulb. Do you hear a relay click or solenoid operate when you press a button? It's possible that selector pins are being selected, but the start micro switch is not starting the motor. Look at the rear of the pinbank to see if pins are moving. Be sure you didn't accidentally unplug the mech motor while poking around in there.

Scan/Service switch for early Rowe Ami

Hi all, The group looks like it's gone very quiet, or I'm having an email problem - I need to replace the scan/service switch on a JAO Diplomat and found new 3 way double pole switches made by CRL that seem to be common with Fender guitar amps. Some of the original jukebox ones were made at the time by CRL too. Has anyone ever used one or do you think they would work ? The only think I can think of is that the jukebox versions did not lock in for the "Scan" position, you have to hold them down. Wurlitzer 1100 not making selections

Hi All, Last night I was giving my W1100 its semi-annual lubing and when I was done, I unfortunately discovered that it would no longer accept a selection. I've so far checked the two fuses (OK), the slug rejector (no jammed coins), and the coin register mechanism (no jammed coins). I was dropping in nickels & dimes pretty fast to build my credits to let it play for 20 minutes, hence me looking at the coin gear for a possible problem. I notice that when I drop a quarter, I can hear the 5 credits accumulate but when I then go to select a song, nothing further happens. I'm good with repairing most anything mechanical but since electricity is invisible, I'm slightly more impaired. [8^) Any tips are appreciated. Thanks, Bill Schaefer Castle Rock, CO

Wurlitzer 2900 selection issue

Ok hoping the Wurlitzer experts can solve this one. This 2900 will not go to search / scan mode. It keeps loading the same record but even with all selection pins down. You can make a selection and it pops the correct pin but never goes into search mode. Just keeps playing same selection repeatedly. I’m not Wurlitzer savvy. Never have been My thought was a bad cube relay but the other issue is no manual to help troubleshoot Regards, Rick

Rock-Ola 1434 playing too fast!

What in the world could cause this to spin the record faster than 45 rpm? It can't be the idler wheel since it's a single one. The motor is marked 115V 60 Cycle. There is no tape or anything on the motor shaft. While it was spinning I lightly put a file on the shaft to clean off anything that could have been put on it to speed it up. The inside of the "flywheel" is clean. There was a wire holding the one part of the motor upwards, the area where the rubber mount was failing and sagging worse than the others. They have been replaced and the motor is straight up and down. The motor shaft is in contact with the idler wheel properly, not near touching the larger diameter part of it. I don't get it. It's close to 48rpm. Funny how easy it is to hear a difference of 3 rpm, very easy! And yes I've checked it with a strobe disk and it shows that it's fast. If I can find the right kind of phone app to measure the motor's rpm, what should it's speed be, anyone know? -- Tony Miklos Tony's Jukebox Repair

AMI "Model B" Breaking 78s!

This is a bad situation I can hardly believe it myself, I thought it was only a myth that jukeboxes actually broke discs. Had this machine about 13 years and had no problems once we took it apart and lubricated it etc. Within the last year or so there has been a gripper (transfer arm) jamming problem. If you switch the mains off when it jams you can turn the motor by hand and the record is returned to the rack and all continues as normal. Not however if there is another selection waiting to be selected. If you don't switch the mains off quickly enough, the rack starts to move even though the gripper has not yet returned the 78 to the rack! Hence breaking everything in its path. I assumed this was a lubrication problem, however recently the same thing happened again after lubrication, I lost 15 of the 20 discs this time. I assume it is something more, why is the rack starting to move before the record has been returned? You can avoid this potentially happening by only selecting one record at a time, so the rack will not move if there's a problem, but it needs sorting clearly. It can go a long while before jamming, other times it can jam repeatedly, it's random. Am pleased to see this list still exists, it's many years since I used it. Thank You. D.

The LED replacements to use with the original ballast are called "Type A" and/or "Plug and Play" lamps. The one I bought for a hard-to-find 33-inch lamp came with clear plastic and would shine primarily in one direction only. https://www.ebay.com/itm/276824141757 To diffuse the bright "spots" and make the lamp shine more evenly like a traditional fluorescent tube I wrapped it in a plastic light-diffuser material called "Kreene." https://www.boxcarpress.com/shop/kreene/ I have generally found the result to be satisfactory. Rock-Ola 1434 cartridge wiring

If you aren't familiar with this machine, it has 1 tone arm that goes high or low to play each side of the record with a cartridge on the top and the bottom. It uses two 51-1 cartridges. Much to my surprise, the two cartridges are wired in series. I'm planning on putting 2 new carts on it and wondering if I should put them in series or parallel. I'm surprised it works with two in series, being that they are ceramic. I forgot to look to see what the input resistor is and it's value is not on the schematic. I forgot to mention that the top and bottom cartridges are NOT wired to a switch to get a signal from only one cart at a time like Wurlitzer did. It's not the end of the world if my first attempt might not work well, but the reason behind this is boggling to me. I'll be using the Crosley cartridges as nice fitting replacements and will connect their (stereo) outputs parallel like I normally do. Wurlitzer OMT CD

Are all the control boards on these interchangeable? I have an old box that long ago I upgraded from the old style laser to the newer Pro Player and up. The player acts exactly like it it bad. Spinning, stopping, spinning backwards eventually returning the cd to the carousel. I thought for sure it was the player, but that tests good in my test box at the shop. Any ideas what may be wrong. I was so sure it was the player that I didn't troubleshoot it any further. Dumb move, I know. It's just that I've never run into one that had a problem with the cd player that wasn't the player itself. 780 blows fuse

Sorry I’m late getting back. The box blows amp fuse when record comes up. Was suggested to pull the 5Z3 and see if it still happens. No, the fuse doesn’t blow when the tube is out of the amp. Where should I go from here or what test might I perform to identify the issue? The amp has new caps from 3 years ago.Has worked with no issues until recently. Thanks. End of 2023, Sound Leisure and Gudrun Wurlitzer found a license agreement for the name "Wurlitzer" to produce the "Wurlitzer 1015 Tribute" jukebox. https://soundleisure.com/sound-leisure-wurlitzer-tribute-1015/ Gibson doesn't own Wurlitzer any more, Wikipedia is not up to date it seems. The German Wurlitzer company, belonging for Gibson, is gone since March 2016 already. In 2018 Gibson filed for insolvency which luckily it could be prevented finally. But I think they gave up the Wurlitzer section at that time. The trademark law was then taken over by Gudrun Wurlitzer, her daughter and her son in 2020. They all belong to the German branch of the Wurlitzer family, and Gudrun Wurlitzer is co-owner of the "Herbert Wurlitzer clarinet manufacture". Kind regards - Hildegard
