Testing a W1500 amp with newer mech?

Here’s a fun one! I have need to test a Wurlitzer 516 amplifier from a model 1500 but the jukebox is 2 hours away. I have a mech from a 1700 or 1800 set up that I use for testing amplifiers from about models 1800 to 2300. The 516 amplifier uses an 11 pin plug to the amplifier as does say, the 530 amplifier from a model 1900 but when I compare the schematics they appear very different. Would anyone know if I can test this amp with this mech? I do realize the 1500 uses a field coil speaker and I have an adapter for this purpose. I just don’t want to smoke any components and am concerned. Thanks, Mauro Sent from my iPhone

Mills Do Re Mi

I have a Mills Do Re Mi that is without a selection drive motor. I have acquired one but need help wiring it in. The motor has four wires (two of course for the AC). Rowe CCC repair 6-08870-06

I have a darn I forget the model (R-86?), but it has a 6-08870-06 CCC with a very odd problem. After fixing up some battery corrosion, it would power up and play whatever selection it had stopped at, then when that cancels, it proceeds to play both sides of every record. The only way to stop it is to press the "clear selection memory" button. At first I didn't have a battery in it and thought maybe on power up one of the two 5101 rams are getting *confused*. I added a battery and it seemed to have cured the problem. Then yesterday it started doing it again. I do have a small quantity of 5101's in stock. Thanks, Tony

Well, I'm done with trying to eliminate this hum for now. I did have some marginal success with reducing it slightly. I was pretty much already done but I came across a few videos on youtube that showed troubleshooting a ground loop hum. I put the amp back on the bench and tried using a piece of wire to make a new ground path from various points. One of these was to place one end of the wire on the ground strap from the ground strap for the PCB to the opposite side of the board near C17. That took some of the edge off the hum but did not eliminate it. I decided to run a 16AWG wire from the strap to the pad for the jumper wire near C17 and leave it that. Maybe some day when I am feeling adventuresome I'll trace out the ground paths to see how many jumpers are used to tie into the perimeter ground plane to see if I can isolate and reground different points on the board. I will note that there is one track for the heater circuit that runs parallel to the ground for quite a bit of distance. The ground strap is at one end of this run and the place where I tied the new wire is at the other end. Other thoughts - I don't know if I am expecting too much here or not. The hum can easily be drowned out with background noise and it is not noticeable when music is playing. I just notice it in the time between when the amp unmutes and the music starts. I'll also admit that my bench testing setup is not the best for testing this due to the small speaker I am using. There is a notable difference between a single 8" speaker and 3 x 12" speakers when it comes to 60hz hum. Carl Haines

I can't find a part number for this. Same part for a lot of other models, this one is actually for an RI-3. Anyway can these be bought anywhere? I've seen some used on ebay but sure would like new. I can most likely make one if I really have to but trying here first. I just emailed A&B in NH but they are closed today so I thought I'd look for other leads in the mean time. I believe this is the same part for these jukes: RI-3 / RI-4 / CTI-2 / R-84 to R-94

Jamie - Did you ask this question on a FB group too? It sounds familiar. I mentioned the solenoid sticking because the selector button is still making contact. Need to check there first. Seeburg TSU5 Selection Issue Solved

I just learned that the red wire on the Pulse Amp RCA cable needed to be soldered to ground. This has solved the issue! After running the jukebox for a while I notice that R518 is getting warm though the caps on either end of it are not heating up. Something to be concerned about?

Seeburg TSU5 Selection Issue Persists

Help! I’ve followed everyone’s suggestions on this stubborn problem with my Seeburg TSU5 (in an AY160) but the issue persists. The issue: the mechanism will select any single that happens to be closest no matter what buttons are pressed. Happens during scanning and if resting to the right. What I’ve done: recapped electrolytic & paper/film caps in TSU5 & Pulse Amp. Tested all resistors and changed a few that were out of spec. Replaced 2050, 6X4, both OA2s, Voltages to both sides of R518 and OA2’s are correct. Cleaned RCA to Pulse Amp and reflowed ground wire. (There’s a red wire on the RCA cable that’s not connected to anything on the plug but the green wire is soldered to the RCA center post.) Also ran a ground wire from mechanism to chassis. Originally I had a short on the 6X4 tube socket but I replaced the socket. I recently lubricated the mechanism and assume clutch is not the problem if I can manually trip it to pick up a record. This juke worked great until the 6X4 socket shorted. Any ideas on what to do now greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I will study the manual again.
