A local freind with a Seeburg L100 called me and asked about eliminating the pricing unit (which is beyond repair or missing) he stated that he had a older tech years ago mention to him that he used to bypass the pricing unit with a few jumpers. Doesn’t sound right to me as part of the selection circuit runs through it. I’ve never heard of this and it peaked my curiously, has anyone here ever done it or know exactly how bypass this with jumpers? I’m interested and also would like to know. Thanks, Mauro

I never worked on a Seeburg jukebox, but sometimes noticed that the different brands have similarities.
On the WurliTzer 2900 and similar models, there is a spring slide switch on the panel behind the selection/ push buttons switch board. When given a slide and released, gives a single credit by making a ground contact. The circuit can be traced on the circuit diagram. I don’t remember trying it without a pricing unit, but by installing a jumper cable with clips across the said slide switch, continuous credit is available.
I installed a similar jumper switch on a Seeburg 3WA wallbox for continuous credit, because the ‘pricing unit?’ had a broken part and was removed.

Be careful putting any juke on free-play, or otherwise bypassing credit circuits. They weren't designed for someone to leave credit on the machine for long periods of time, it's just not a natural state for the designer to consider.
In particular, I know some Seeburgs have a problem overheating long term if the solenoid that holds the buttons down remains energized for long periods of time. To avoid this problem, some people just disconnected that hold down solenoid, so you have to hold down both the number and letter buttons simultaneously to make a selection.

Thanks Steve!
I forgot to mention that in practice, the free credit switch is normally switched off at the second to last selection. So when the last selection is made, the credit lamp and circuit with energised solenoid goes off.

Might check on eBay. A long time ago I purchased one of those freeplay units for my R. It was the one that disengaged in 15 seconds if a selection was not completed to avoid the burnt solenoid issue. Still works great today.

Isn't the L100 a tormat unit? If so, the Free Play unit won't work.

Victory Glass sells free play units for the tormat machines as well. On Monday, April 15, 2024 at 11:24:02 AM EDT, Paul Howlett via Jukebox-list jukebox-list@lists.netlojix.com wrote:

Yes you are correct, it is a tormat machine. I am aware that a free play unit is available and I build my own units for the pin bank jukes, but my question was to see if it was possible to bypass the pricing unit altogether on the L100 (with the latch solenoid disconnected). I don’t think it’s possible but he swears an old Seeburg tech told him he’s done it. I was just curious if anyone else has heard of this?
