Initial first look at a friends Seeburg M100A : Fairly loud buzzzing noise as soon as power is applied. Mechanism is stuck , wont move, even by turning the hub with power off. With power on the hub turns, but wont trip or do anything. I believe the buzzing is coming thru the speaker. Clutch problems?
Seems this jukebox hasn’t had any maintenance in a very long time?

I would say the loud buzzing is the trip solenoid is energized. If the turntable is spinning it sounds like a typical stuck clutch. I would start there Regards Rick

Sounds to me like it's in the play position if buzzing is coming through the speaker. Remove the 5U4 tube from the amp to see if it stops. The A is different from the later mechs and there is no manual trip lever. Have you tried actuating the trip relay with your finger? Let us know what you find. I am willing to pay $100 finders fee for a Wurlitzer 1800 tone arm that I can purchase.
If anyone has one that is not mounted, I would love a few pictures of the bottom/back side of it, specifically the bracket that screws onto the back of it to make it place the needle on the record. I am wondering if I can make a bracket to make the newer style tone arm work and pictures would be a great starting point.
Thanks,
Tony
The 1800 style is thinner because the mechanism to move it forward and back is on the front side of the arch. The trip lever is different also. It should be possible to make a later one work with some modification, but I have not tried it and can't say for certain. I do have one that is missing the cobra socket and the bracket you are asking about. Contact me off list. I found two tone arms, one with something missing and one complete.
Thanks,
Tony
