SBARC Meeting on Friday - Selling Ham Equipment Online

Friday evening will be our monthly club meeting. There was more interest than I had anticipated in my KeyKlix article about online selling, so the topic this month will be an expansion of that article. While the thrust will be on selling ham equipment, the topics covered are applicable to selling almost anything online. A rough outline of the talk will be: * Introduction to Online Selling * Motivations for selling and their affect on Selling Strategies * Online venues for ham equipment (auctions, listservers, classifieds, etc.) * Online Demonstration of various venues * Knowledge = Profit - Intro to Marketing Research - Will it sell? - What are we looking for besides just pricing? - How to succesfully search online - Marketing Research Tools - HammerTap, A Professional Tool * Demonstration of listing online - Taking Photos - Writing the Description - Mechanics of Listing * Getting Paid and Shipping * Q&A See you there! Soon to become hatching chicks are getting all the attention and notoriety on YOUTUBE. Here is an interesting article I ran across while doing some web research: THE INFLUENCE OF AMATEUR RADIO ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE COMMERCIAL MARKET FOR QUARTZ PIEZOELECTRIC RESONATORS IN THE UNITED STATES By Patrick R. J. Brown, N7KRG Abstract In the mid and late 1920s, amateur radio operators were experimenting in great numbers with crystal control of radio transmitters. At the time, most amateurs used home built transmitters made from a combination of purchased and home made parts. The use of quartz crystals by amateurs predated the first U.S. commercial broadcast station to use crystal control. Amateur radio operators were the first sizable commercial market for crystals. Many of the crystal companies of the 1920s and 1930s were founded by amateur radio operators to supply other amateurs. http://www.bliley.net/XTAL/Industry-Hams.html
