K6TZ-11 was installed at La Cumbre Peak, 3950' amsl. Hamfest Tomorrow

Hi everyone, This years Hamfest is shaping up to be the best one we've had in several years with more vendors, more prizes, more demonstrations, and of course our Santa Barbara Tri-tip BBQ. Our main prize is one of the best we have ever offered: an KCOM IC-7000 HF to 70 CM All Mode Transceiver. Secondary Prizes include the Kenwood TH-F6A 2M/220/440 HT, Yaesu FT-1802M 50W 2M Mobile, Garmin Mini GPS Receiver, and a lot more. Demonstrations and activities will include the ARES van, Rover van, HF Mobile vehicles, ATV, Transmitter hunting, games, and more. Using their native Mavajo language as a basis, they developed a "shorthand" verbal code which was never broken through WW II and used heavily by the Marines. I have just learned that Cliff Buttschardt, K7RR, passed away peacefully early Sunday, July 30th. Cliff was a long time friend of SBARC and Amateurs throughout the world. He had been in treatment for esophageal cancer for the past year or so, but remained active in all his pursuits. He was very active in AMSAT since it's early years and for the past 6 years was a mentor to many students at Cuesta College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with the CubeSat program http://polysat.calpoly.edu/ http://cubesat.calpoly.edu/. A frequent visitor to SBARC club meetings and Hamfests, he will be missed, both in the crowd and behind the mic. May he rest in peace.
