Is the sound coming from inside the amplifier? If so, the problem is with the amplifier.

My 780 has began making a terrible clicking/clacking noise as the record comes up. Sometimes it clears up. Recently it continued until the amp fuse blew. Record continues to come up and play but of course no sound. Suggestions as to where the “bug” is? Thanks
