I Have a customer with a 100R that keeps getting stuck on K9 playing over and over again. I was there yesterday for the second time and made a very slight adjustment on the contact block to insure the cancel coil was resetting the pin.
Then I selected A1 to observe the pin cancel (which it did) then K9 again and the pin was cancelled.
I repeated this test process 3 times and each time the mech functioned accordingly.
I left thinking all good. This morning a text from him again saying mech stuck on K9.
Thankfully he is only 30 minutes away but it's getting old. Any thoughts on what to do or what else to check?
I think I had a similar issue years ago but I don't remember what the resolution was.
Regards, Rick
Make sure the cancel solenoid is good and not sticking and that it is properly aligned at the time it cancels the pin. But you have probably already done that. Just a thought, perhaps "cheating", though: Find the record and odd number side least played on the jukebox and swap that record and label with what's on K9. If it never gets selected to play it will never have to be cancelled... Yeah, OK, just wishful thinking.

Rick,
Check if the Reversing switch is just touching the mech lever when playing K9. That slight amount of pressure is enough to disconnect the reversing blade switch that changes the odds and even pun cancel coil!
Clean contacts, and check for needed overwipe when that switch changes state.

John, excellent advise. The mech was degreased and serviced during the restoration. Because I saw it cancel on both pinbank endpoints I never thought to check that. I’ll let you know when I find.

K9/K0 and A2/A1 are where you put the double-sided hits like Topsy Part 1 and 2.
One thing to check is whether the spring is on the pin in the pinbank. Without the spring tension it might vibrate outward. Does it feel the same resistance as the other pins when you slide it back and forth?
Could there be something else at the very end of the pinbank that is shorting against the contact block?
