I have a JAL 200 from 1963 that registers a selection but picks up and plays a different selection than the one selected the majority of time. Often picks the same selection like it was not reset after playing. It is the first 1100? series mech (tone arm on left side of turntable). Where should I start, I assume something dirty. Thanks, Jim The Day Family jwdlad@verizon.net
Hi Jim,
Yes the JAL is the first Rowe Ami, with the 1100 mech.
My first advice is get the manual. This problem can me one of so many things.
Have you ever had the machine working correctly ? We have to start right at the beginning because there are so many ways to assemble this mechanism incorrectly.
If it did work previously, if you select B1, is the pin that gets pushed out, the pin at 12 o'clock ?
Also, when you select a record and the magazine is rotating, can you see - does the pin get hit, and then the mechanism jump over that pin?
When a record is played, does the pin get pushed back in successfully ?
