Hi all,
The group looks like it's gone very quiet, or I'm having an email problem - I need to replace the scan/service switch on a JAO Diplomat and found new 3 way double pole switches made by CRL that seem to be common with Fender guitar amps. Some of the original jukebox ones were made at the time by CRL too.
Has anyone ever used one or do you think they would work ?
The only think I can think of is that the jukebox versions did not lock in for the "Scan" position, you have to hold them down. I imagine as these were guitar amp switches all the positions locked in, but that's no big deal.

That looks like a good replacement other than missing the spring return to centre-off if the switch operation is the same. Not a deal breaker!
Note, for quoting ebay listings just cut off the question mark and everything afterwards as that is your cookies and tracking stuff...this is much simpler!

That ebay listing looks like a single pole switch, it doesn't say in the listing as far as I can see? But no matter, the Diplomat schematic shows a three pole switch! Norman.
Hi Norman,
It's a 2 gang 3 way switch..
There are other selling the same one and they show better photos of the other side too, showing it's 2 separate the other sets of contacts.
I've tried to compare with my Tropicana one and it looks the same other than the jukebox version needs to be held down for the scan, whereas I think this one will click in all 3 places on/off/scan.
Regards
Nigel

Firstly, I didn't realise there were contacts on both sides - it doesn't look that way in the ebay picture (and I'm not familiar with Telecasters!). Next, the Diplomat schematic shows a 3 pole switch but looking at the diagram more closely, I don't actually see why it needs to be 3 pole? I then thought maybe they were showing it that way for clarity but that still doesn't really make sense. I looked for better pictures, there's a Hosco 3 way Telecaster switch with a spring return, might that be closer to the Rowe one in operation? Yes I have the Diplomat manual and the schematic is clear for that switch and I couldn't see why either.
I should have taken photos of it when I was there really. No idea why I didn't.
It's likely to be the same as the one on my Tropicana but not guaranteed as there were lots of electronic tweaks on the diplomat that make it differ from the Troppy. Some which Rowe reverted back after that and the Bandstand.
