Hi Dean,
Quick question. Does the transfer motor ever work ?
If you have the machine in 'on' mode (not service), nothing playing. Don't make a selection, but manually with your hand, push the nylon bracket that the stopping switch is attached to (I.e. to simulate the switch hitting a pin). There will be slight tension, but when the switch clicks, the gripper motor should operate. If it does, then let the record play and return on it's own. If it doesn't, then at least it's easier for you to monitor voltages with your hand pushing the switch. You don't even need to pop a pin out.
If the transfer motor doesn't work, you may want to put in the hex key and fractionally turn the cam, literally like 1mm round, just to see if it then operates the switch and the gripper motor starts to rotate. If it does, let the machine take over the cycle. These won't fix it but will enable us to narrow down the issue a little.
Also have you checked connections on the Jones plug and the nylon socket on the R relay base ?
You can remove this complete bracket after removing these and a ground tag, and check the relay out on the bench and clean the contacts.

Nigel, Thank you so much for the directions on the search unit disassembly. It went very well. I checked both switches on the stopping switch assembly and they both tested solidly good. I also checked continuity between the switch terminals and lands on the disk and the reset coils and disk lands. All tested okay. Just to be sure, I re-soldered the wire connections from those units to the disk and then cleaned the disk lands thoroughly. The magazine detent switch gave an intermittent flakey ohm reading on the NC terminals. Moving the NC terminal around caused an intermittent open. I cleaned it up and reinstalled and the stop pin still skips over a selected pin without starting the transfer motor. I've ordered a new switch and will install it when it arrives in the next ten days and I hope this clears up the issue. Thanks again, Nigel, your directions were very clear and gave me the confidence to tackle that part of the machine I'd never had apart before. I'll let you know what happens next when I receive the new micro-switch. Dean
