These come with a preamp which feeds a larger optional amp. Most people simply plug the RCA jack into the phono input in their home stereo, bypassing the preamp. Works great. Just be aware the controls on the library unit will be inactive and you'll have to use those with the home stereo. Finally, the original preamp is a huge pain to rebuild as it's crammed in a small chassis, and the original main amp can be difficult to find. Bickers won't rebuild the preamp. Never having any exposure to this model I want to know which amplifier was paired with it and would he be restricted to that amp or could a substitute be used?
