Looking at manuals I don't think this is a 1940 model! This machine has a coin push shoot that takes either a dime or nickel. At 2 plays for a dime, I don't see how one could select more than one record, however the credit unit goes to 20. To select, there is one knob in the middle that turns a chain, that turns a shaft with the spiral things on it to stop the mech at the right record. Actually with it being in another building, I'm not sure but I think it can only advance one selection at a time. The mech is clean and nothing is sticky The link below is the actual box at auction. The amp, IF original, uses a 5Z3, a 6A6, and two 6B6s. The speaker is not original. I haven't yet powered up the amp, I have to remove it to make sure it's rebuilt, plus I haven't yet fixed the tone arm and smashed cartridge.

The mech itself is not hard to repair but keep in mind that at this age they are usually "stuck". It can require quite a bit of disassembly especially if previous owners used that hideous Lubriplate. The trays in particular are usually sticky because there are long thin tracks they ride in. The amplifiers are not as plentiful and finding transformer replacements can be difficult. Finally, the prewar castings are prone to warping and cracking. Some so badly that many install trashcan mechs in place. Be prepared to rewire all the lamp cord.

I've never looked at the insides of one of these, all I know is that it doesn't play. And of course "It all lights up and everything" :)
Anyway, from what I could see in the poor pics of the mech, it looks fairly simple. Are they easy? Trying to decide if I want to take the job or not since I have an open spot in the shop.
