Fire Info

Just heard on Air-to-Ground frequency - 170.000 MHz
Fire is moving southeast, and is estimated to reach "Mission Canyon proper"
within an hour. A lot of talk about Inspiration Point.
The air-to-ground frequency is being used in conjuction with Operations -
153.905. The raw info is coming from the helicopters, and is then
coordinated via the ops frequency. This is a great combination of
frequencies to be monitoring.

Apparently the fire has been named the "Jesusita Fire" by SB County Fire.
There is a lot of activity on 153.905 MHz. This appears to be the OPS
frequency for the fire.

To: 145.18 Repeater users
From: Bill Talanian
The 145.18 repeater at Santa Ynez Peak will undergo a change of
control systems. This will require removal of the repeater for system
integration off site. Given the usual things that can't go wrong but
do we set a block period of 7 days to perform the modifications and
testing. This is a "heads-up" which means it could happen any day
with little prior notice.
Thank you, Michael. This is very sad. While my son, Joshua, was in
school, and qualified for a personal bus ride to and from school, Hubert
was sometimes the driver. Hubert was always a very giving person.

Subject: International Space Station
This is the amazing ISS assembly diagram, piece by piece.
You will enjoy this, if you don't consider the cost.
I had no idea the Space Station had grown this big.

JPL INVITES PUBLIC TO ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE
Jet Propulsion Laboratory News Advisory
WHAT: NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., welcomes the
public to its annual Open House on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3,
from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The lab will salute the 40th anniversary of
NASA's Apollo 11 mission - the first human landing on the moon. JPL
will also celebrate the International Year of Astronomy, a United
Nations-endorsed series of events around the world that commemorate
the 400th anniversary of the first telescope observations of space and
planets by Italian scientist Galileo Galilei.
Open House highlights include: seeing JPL's next spacecraft bound for
Mars, the Mars Science Laboratory, in the lab's biggest "clean room;"
talking to scientists and engineers who work on missions to
destinations such as Mars, Saturn, Jupiter and Earth's moon; and
visiting JPL's Microdevices Lab, where engineers and scientists work
in the world of the ultra-miniature. Visitors can also view the sun
through solar-safe telescopes, and learn how NASA instruments measure
greenhouse gases, helping scientists better understand global climate
change.
Besides the many exhibits and displays, the Open House will feature
hands-on activities for children. Visitors can find out how NASA
missions are using new media tools such as Twitter at the "The Tweet
Spot" booth. Portions of the event will also air live online on
Ustream TV at
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/nasajpl
on Saturday, May
2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
WHEN: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3. Admission and
parking are free.
WHERE: 4800 Oak Grove Drive, Pasadena, Calif. From the 210 Freeway,
