I would agree it is easier to work on the bench. I thought he was referring to removing the mech from the track not the machineā¦

Some Seeburgs don't have access to the mech from the back of the cabinet and will require pulling the mech. Rebuilding the clutch isn't particularly difficult although time-consuming, and there are several small parts and screws that can get lost.
IMHO it's easier to do on the bench. Better lighting, too.
