Hi Jamie.
Firstly the output on a lot of the older mono singles is higher than modern ones.
The songs were shorter in length so the groove pitch was different and you could get more output into the groove. Also, there was a lot of experimentation at the time. Even though I am sure there was an RIAA standard set for output volume.
Modern songs are stereo and longer record length so the groove pitch was increased to fit on the song, at the expense of output level. Cant have both at the same time, for the same reason that a multi song EP is even quieter still.
Got to ask though, what cartridge is on it? If it's the original mono one , that won't help with stereo records either.
In the UK I find the early Decca label records seem to be significantly louder than other makes.

Hello all, I have an AMI G-80 and I recently replaced the original stylus with a new one. However, even before the change some records particularly mid to late 70's record as well as 80's records play at a low audio output. I have found some of these records do not play at the same audio strength as 50's and 60's records. Ami I doing something wrong or has anyone else noticed this with an older jukebox? Please give me your thoughts. Thank you
