I'm in full agreement. When you put all this stuff into a vintagejukebox, you're no longer restoring it but making a Frankensteinheadache for someone else 20-30 years down the road. Electro-mechanical components can always be repaired. What do you doif you touch a proprietary IC and kill it with a static discharge, andthe original seller is no longer selling it?
When I first saw this, I thought, "Hey, that's clever" but the more Ithink about it the more dubious I am. Then again, there are peoplewho pull the Freborg mechanism out of a Trashcan and use thecabinet as a Bluetooth speaker. And they call it "restored."
