Incredible rainfall rate very early Sunday morning

Saturday's rain for me in Ventura did not start falling at measurable quantities until 8pm. By midnight we got 0.7". Very early Sunday morning, I could hear it dumping outside for a while but I was all cozy in my bed so I didn't get up. Was very surprised to see the total of Saturday and Sunday of 3.04" !! Much higher than anyone near me on the automated rainfall website got. I have a cup style 'manual' rain gauge on a fence that I use to verify what my automated rain gauge says, and it too showed the same amount. Take a look at the rate of rain I got. 1.6" rainfall rate an hour! Incredible! Dave AI6VX [image: image.png]

Last chance reminder for the BORED Net µField Day this Saturday, with the Ventura County Amateur Radio Club at their home stomping grounds at the Dudley House! As usual, we'll go from about 11:00 to 3:00 pm. Some people may come earlier or later; some people may stay earlier or later. It's always very informal. Bring your portable HF setup, bring a handheld, bring your home station and see how hard it is to set it up remotely, whatever you feel like. The main goal is to hang around with other hams. This is the third time the BORED net has held a µFD with a host club, and it's always been a good way to meet people from other parts of the county and other clubs. Dave Schmidt AI6VX from VCARC will be providing charcoal and firing up the awesome barbecue pit. Bring something to cook up if you like. Bring your own drinks as well. The Dudley House offers 120v power and restrooms, plus a large lawn area and covered patio. This is definitely going to be the most luxurious µFD yet... Dudley House is at 197 N. Ashwood Avenue, on the SW corner of Ashwood and Loma Vista. The best parking will be in the medical plaza next door, which is accessed via Loma Vista. The Entrance to that lot is at 34.277760893173294, -119.24104931794436. What3words is hesitate.margin.singles. (What3words now works on any cell phone without needing the internet to find a location, by the way.) If we all park at the Med plaza, there is more parking lot available at Dudley House for those who need a paved area to set up, and for people with difficulty walking. VCARC will be hosting a 'µField Day' at the Dudley House Oct 29th 11am - 3pm in Ventura

VCARC will host a BORED Net 'Micro-Field Day' at the Dudley House 197 N. Ashwood Dr. Ventura CA 93003 from 11AM until 3PM on October 29. These µField Day events were started by The BORED Net and is a great way to hang out with a bunch of other hams, blow the dust off your equipment, and get more experience with your equipment in a portable setting. All hams are invited. Previous locations have been Lake Sherwood near Westlake, Rancho Potrero in Newbury Park, and CSUCI campus. One of the events had 16 HF rigs operating! The BORED Net µField Days are also a great opportunity for newer hams to see different setups in use, or to bring their own equipment for help. They're open to everyone in the county, from all clubs (or not affiliated with any club), licensed or just interested. AC power, a bathroom, and "Fire and ice" will be provided (a BBQ pit and ice), so bring something to grill for yourself. Hope to see you there! Dave AI6VX

LDG auto-tuner etc purchase

Santa Barbara Electronics Supply was just made a vendor for LDG. LDG makes auto-tuners (up to 1KW), baluns, ununs, and dual analog color meters for certain radios. We have to commit to a $1500 buy-in to establish our dealership. If anyone needs any LDG product, please let me know today or tomorrow (Thursday) at the latest. We are going to offer everyone who helps us a discount on this purchase run (and we pay shipping to get all the products to Goleta for pick up at SBES, although we can turn around and ship to you direct if you are not local).
