I spent last weekend at Vintage Computer Festival SoCal—a gathering of retro tech enthusiasts who keep old computers and forgotten technology alive. There were plenty of hams there and it was a great chance to explore rare machines, connect with fellow tinkerers, and dive into the stories behind early computing. RigExpert Office in Kyiv, Ukraine Destroyed ___________________________________________________________________ From W3UR Bernie McClenney, today: I received the following report about the destruction of the Kyiv administrative office. "Today, our administrative office was completely destroyed by a Russian ballistic missile. Despite the severe damage, we are relieved to report the most important - all our team members are safe. DMR RadioID update - if your DMR RadioID starts with a 1 then read this

I've been chasing my tail for a couple of days trying to figure out why I can key up DMR repeaters but my QSO is not broadcast to other repeaters; it only stays local. It appears that Brandmeister is no longer routing QSO's from 7-digital personal radio ID's starting with a "1" (and eventually 6-digit repeater Radios ID's starting with a "1", so be ware if you run a repeater)! They say it'll work until 1/1/26, but mine was NOT and changing my RadioID solved the problem. Note that this requires reprogramming of all your radios (and repeaters). I feel old... look at that "remote control"... he updates news headlines by calling up old ones and "overtypes" the previous ones... and around the 7 minute mark his entry of graphics shapes reminds me just how cumbersome this all used to be... but at the time, it seemed miraculous... (note he talks about outputting the graphics to "puncher" tape ("punch tape" in the US) that he'll THEN feel into the computer)... the machinations we went through to accomplish things that seem so rudimentary now is timeless.. later the lady talks about "content" regarding whether CEEFAX will take off - same thing the business arms are concerned with today; no change there... it just keeps getting better and better as the video goes on...

I am going to build all new patch cables for the WB6OBB repeater system and I'm wondering if anyone has any surplus MIL-17-C RG-214 coax (or equivalent) laying around they would be willing to part with. This is double shielded silver plated coax that is good for repeater systems in high-RF environments. Thanks! Ken

AN EXQUISITELY BEAUTIFUL SYSTEM Tracked early morning flight by CALSTAR Air Ambulance EC-135, N832CS +P2, with patient from San Luis Obispo landing on top of Cottage Hospital at Pueblo and RTB at Santa Maria. Satellite background photo adds to the perfect accuracy of our combined ADSB tracking system. We need to record these events and data for replay when they happen.
