Quick Question (unrelated to QRP Weekend, which is a great thing). If SBARC and/or ARES is called upon to serve as emergency communicators in the forest land, like for a wildfire, should we have funds onboard the VAN to purchase an ADVENTURE PASS. As a private individual member of ARES who could be called upon to travel on Forest Service roads during an emergency, should I be prepared to pay for the privelege?
HI All,
Al has a good point about this kind of thing, and it could go to other such matters as well.
When we did the firewatch in previous years, they gave us those magnetic signs that were supposed to take the place of adventure passes but that was a case where we were working for the Feds., ie, the Forest Service.
Even though the main idea Al mentioned centers around what might be more of a County case, which may be different, we might want to take due note of it anyway, maybe we should ask the planners at the SB County fire dept. about that contingency !!!

Hi all,
So far, this has been a non-problem. Even practice ARES exercises and work on our repeater systems have gotten a pass from the forest minions. A contest is recreation however, even if the van were to be used so be prepared to follow the rules.
