I agree. Let’s put this to rest. Below is the definition of “political” as defined by Websters:
1a :of or relating to government, a government, or the conduct of government b :of, relating to, or concerned with the making as distinguished from the administration of governmental policyhttps://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/policy 2:of, relating to, involving, or involved in politicshttps://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/politics and especially party politics 3:organized in governmental terms
* political units
As far as I can tell, American flags and federal holidays have nothing to do with politics.

Folks:
Let me weigh in on this as it appears my simple message has been misconstrued and may have been taken as offensive. The ListServer is for communications between members and a common interest. There are 10 government holidays. Three of them are Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day. There is absolutely nothing political in recognition of our common heritage but a patriotic reminder of those in SBARC who have given their life for our freedom. I know each and everyone who have long been forgotten. Would one be so offended if I were to post an American Flag and say, Have a Happy Fourth. I would hope not.
At every SBARC general meeting in a public building we all stand and Pledge Allegiance to the Flag. Everyone stands and it is common to place ones hand over their heart. Even non-citizens stand in this observance in recognition of our sovereignty. I am accorded the option of rendering a hand salute as a veteran. There is nothing political here to offend anyone.
If one is so offended by a simple patriotic posting on the ListServer then the power is in their hands to use the delete button.
Sincerely,
Bill Talanian, USMC (ret) Semper Fi

Just a question: is the SBARC list open to any member to post non-radio-related political content? Oh good grief.
Stephen, I assumed that your question was general in nature and you accidentally piggybacked on Bill's note. If it was in reference to Bill's posting, then in my opinion your question isn't relevant.
Honoring those who served our country is no more political content than wishing someone merry Christmas is hard-core religious proselytizing. There may be some non-US members of the list just as there may be some who don't celebrate Christmas. No big deal.
To bring this back to amateur radio, Riley Hollingsworth's presentation has some merit with regard to content you may encounter both on the air and off the air including on this list. https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtub...
Use the big knob if you're that easily offended.
