One .. small .. step .. at .. a .. time ..
We finally have a Winlink TelPac node up at La Vigia Hill on 145.05. This is software that gateways between the RF side of the Winlink system and the Internet side. Unfortunately Bill and I discovered that the old packet hardware that was there had deteriorated badly, in particular the 438.950 9600baud radio seems to no longer function. So for now all we have is the single 1200baud 145.05 radio operational.
If you want to try things out you need to install Paclink on your computer and set it up to connect to K6TZ-1 on 145.050. The best step-by-step instructions I have seen are at http://www.ki5dr.com/images/wc-ares.ppt. Let me know if you run into difficulties.
The K6TZ-1 node sends out a beacon every minute to USERS, so bring up a monitor window as soon as you dial the frequency and you should be greeted with "K6TZ-1 Santa Barbara La Vigia Hill Winlink 2000 Telpac node".
