Hi folks:
Cali and I operating the VHF contact this weekend from East Camino Cielo. My vehicle is on the let and it has two, 28 element 1296 MHz yagis, one 10 element 2-meter yagi and one 10 element 440 yagi. Callie worked 220 from a hand-held and he used a 6 meter dipole for voice and FT8.

Nice setup Ken! How did you both do in the contest?

Ken - I caught you on FT8 (6m). Didn't see Calli, unfortunately.
I had a QSO with Chris on San Clemente Island via 2m FM and 70cm FM (and a QSO with them on 6m FT8). They seemed clearer and louder on 70cm than on 2m. I did 2m/70cm from my home in Winchester Canyon using my Comet CX-333 vertical on roof. FT8 was via Yagi atop UCSB engineering roof.
Calli - did you work San Clemente via SSB 6m? I was hoping to but had technical problems with remoting microphone and didn't hear them SSB anyway.
How'd you guys do on 220 and 1.2? (Did you get San Clemente on both)?
Would love to see your logs.

Hey guys.
We're weren't seriously contesting, so I don't think I'll submit my logs. Mostly I wanted to see how well my setup was doing. I did work San Clemente Island on 2, 440, and 1.2. Also worked at least one station in San Diego on 1.2. On my 1.2 setup, San Diego and San Clemente Island were just about 5 degrees difference, but it was necessary to place the beam right in order to hear either one of them! 56 elements is fun!

Hello Friends.
You are invited to join us on the Santa Barbara Two-Meter SSB Roundtable tonight on 144.210 starting at 8:00 PM. We have regularly been having check-ins from all over Southern California, and it's a great way to test your gear and enjoy chatting with some fun folks. KD6OVS and I have been operating from the mountains above Santa Barbara, so we can hear just about everyone. Join us tonight or any Wednesday evening!
