Observation:
Zero Outreach
Last nights Community Meeting on Wildfire Safety at Earl Warren was attended by about 250 citizens. The program was sponsored by SCE. Interesting to note that the Public Safety and social service and volunteer agencies also took part in the meeting. After the meeting most of the audience went one-on-one with officials and Public Safety personnel. Aside from myself and PEY we saw no other amateur radio operators. Looking at it another way, If amateur radio fails to respond to open community events in representing itself to the public then the more irrelevant it shall become.
Quoting a former club president:
Why can't ham's learn how to communicate !

This is the first I've heard of the meeting, perhaps we could use the mailing list to alert hams of events of interest.
