It is with the deepest sadness I relate to you the death of Allen Sochel, WA6IDZ, at his home on Tuesday night, January 29th. His passing was peaceful with his wife June at his side. A memorial gathering is planned for Saturday, February 16th, at 10 a.m. at the Montecito Country Club. Details will be announced later this week in the News-Press.

Al had served on the SBARC Board in past years and was our Executive Vice President in 2001. His calm presence added so much dignity to our gatherings and, when asked, his wise advice was always logical and fair. He enjoyed participating in event communications and was a friendly voice to chat with any time. He was a great friend and I will miss him greatly.
