I just received this notice from Joe Moell, K0OV, about the next ARDF meet.
-------------------
Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks will be the site of southern California's next radio-orienteering session. It is open to anyone of any age. A ham radio license and knowledge of radio equipment is not required.
This event is being hosted by Dean Dods. The site is approximately 1 by 1-1/2 miles, with about 250 feet elevation change. Water and lemonade will be provided. There is a picnic area and grills may be available.
Practice 2-meter transmitters will go on the air around 9:00 AM, and the main 5-fox hunt will begin at 10:00 AM.
A limited number of RDF sets will be available for loan. Also be sure to bring anything you'll need while going after those radio foxes, such as munchies, bottled water and sunscreen. Course maps will be available, so bring your own compass, protractor and pencil. Make sure all batteries are fresh.
Directions: Take the Lynn Road exit exit from Highway 101, go north four miles to Avenida de los Arboles, then go west (left) one mile. Meet in the parking lot at the west end of Avenida de los Arboles. There is no charge for parking. (Map at Web site listed below)
