Interesting comparison here between AIS (160 Mhz) VHF signals received at station 533, 500 ft La Vigia Hill, and at station 1360, Santa Ynez Peak, 4300 ft.
Coastal VHF ducting does not favor either site as the "K" factor shifts back and forth (182 NM vs 190 NM). Overall average is nearly identical. When trying for VHF DX just follow the AIS pattern to learn how each site is doing then go for the DX at either one.
