La Cumbre Peak (3985')
Tower work is not something we do often but when it is done there must be complete faith in your co-workers lest something go wrong. This past Friday we erected a 22' collinear antenna atop a 30 ft commercial tower at La Cumbre Peak. While not very high there are many things that can go wrong especially with winds at 15 and gusting to 20. Gin pole, clamps, brackets and lots of line can make for a safe installation. A 22 ft antenna means lots of torque and everything must be perfectly balanced. This can be an accident looking for a place to happen. We don't work with each other every day on towers so teaming means putting together the right people who have faith in each to perform without incident. Thanks to Mike Wapner, K6QD and Cyril Johnson, AF6GW, for working with me on a successful installation.
