So here is the latest on Rhona K6NOO and a new update.

Rhona fell down the stairs at her daughter Lisa's house last Tuesday morning at about 0610. She shattered her pelvis driving the ball of the hip up through the socket. Dr. Z. said that "Injuries are rate on a 1 to 10 and this is considered a "9"".

The surgery and post operative trauma is beyond the capabilities of Cottage Hospital, a "beach town hospital" (quote from Dr.Z.). Thanks for all the work by Dr. Z. and our dear friend Dr. Steve Graboff (W6GOS), today she left for Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles. Tomorrow morning at 0930

Dr. Omata, (considered by far the best orthopedic surgeon in the world), will operate for about 4 hours to reconstruct the pelvic bone and hip. He stated that this was no great feat and anyone can go to his web site and see what the surgery consist of. His web site is www.hipandpelvis.com.

She will be in recovery for several months and has a long haul ahead of her. All of this following quadruple bypass surgery less than two months ago. She is focusing and putting all of her efforts into getting well and coming back to the Rhona that we all love and know.

Everyone is praying in their own way for her recovery.

She is doing great and it appears that her mind is clearing up from all the drugs they have been dumping in veins and down her mouth. She has had several visitors and loves the company, it kills the boredom. The room is getting to look like a floral gift shop! Thank all of you for your cards and flowers, she is really thrilled with all the attention (some people will do anything for attention!)

The good news is that she may be on her way back to Santa Barbara in the next couple of days. Now, we are not sure what facility she will be going to yet in Santa Barbara. She has asked Ellen and I to have the cards sent to us and we will deliver them to her when she gets back in town. This is easier than sending them to the isolated mail box on Toro Canyon Road or to Kip at the nursery. (Isn't that just like Rhona, her way of insuring that we visit her on a regular basis, hi, hi) So the address for cards, etc. now is:
