The club station has a complete set of Key-Klix in binders on the shelf that Michael Ditmore set up. I'm pretty sure they are complete. The station would not need another set.

Not unless something happened to them. The storage environment is not that good. Last year I noticed a thank you photo to the club of Ronald Reagan signed by him (or his machine) sitting on the floor for in a box for months with water seeping in from the rains, and it got wet. When I mentioned it nothing happened. It's probably still there.

In fact, Dave pointed them out when I was there last weekend. They are in binders on shelves on the wall adjacent to the stairs. He was proud to explain that every KK ever published was there and nicely stored.
Have they been scanned in for digital archiving?
If not, I have an 11x17" VERY FAST (b&w/color) scanner at my Goleta Smart Office (/incubator) building that anyone can borrow for said purpose. It scans BOTH SIDES simultaneously and has a document feeder. The resultant images will go straight to my NAS and then we can copy them anywhere (club web site, for instance). I also have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat (published a few weeks ago) which can be used to OCR the results (optical character recognition embedded into the document for search capability, etc). I don't have the bandwidth myself to take on such a task, but if someone wants to come by the building some time, I'll teach them how to use it.

No one seems to be in charge of those things. It really irks me as when I was president back in 1995 and 1996 SBARC was the number one Club in the ARRL SW Division, we 'earned the respect of all!' I have asked shackmaster Dave for a long time where all those documents, framed or otherwise, were being kept. He really has no idea. I vividly remember when all those beautiful things were on the south wall of the shack. All of a sudden they were not on the wall. Who took them down? There is but one certificate signed by the city Council or the County on the outside of the entrance door. Where are they now? I would have taken them home with me in pride had I known what would happen to them now. And now, when I hear of Ronald Reagan's signed item getting wet on the floor my heart hurts. Dog gone it!

In defense of Shackmaster, who does not participate in this email discussion thread, he is not the club historian and so he cannot be blamed for the lack of proper archival storage of club documents.
If there is concern about the state of the SBARC archives, I would recommend that the board seek to appoint an archive-master to oversee a reclamation project. Its likely that Shackmaster would be very willing to work with that person to ensure that all of the various documents and memorabilia that have been relegated to the Club Station over the years are collected, cataloged and properly stored.

You are quite correct, Levi. The situation of the Club's archives should have been handled many years ago, but it wasn't. Now, we face the prospect of not being able to find all those things we might or might not have a record of. What a shame!
