Forgot- Band openings into Cabo are common on Marine VHF FM channels (just above 2M band). Rare to see an opening northerly however. Also common out to San Nick Is. & Cortez Bank (>80mi SSE from here). My elev. here is ~180’ ASL.

SBARC supports and maintains two vessel tracking systems. One is located at Santa Ynez Peak (4300' amsl) and the other at La Vigia Hill (470' amsl). Note the close tracking distance which is analogous to coastal AIS propagation at 162 MHz. One may concluded that band openings on two-meters would also be occurring down to Baja California, a distance of ~700 nm? =? ~800 miles.
