Hi y'all, Are any of you planning to attend Pacificon? It's October 15-17. Not sure I'm going yet, but considering it. Never been to it before. Dave K6VML
I am not going, but used to go at least every other year when I lived in the Bay Area. It’s a good event with decent presentations and exhibitors.

I am not going either (too far and not good timing). I did go to Hamcon in Torrance (I believe it was Torrance) in September, 2017. It was worth the trip down there, especially for someone just getting back into ham radio, as I was at the time. But that is a much shorter trip. I picked up a couple of discone antennas at the swap meet (which left a bit to be desired, as I recall) and got to see one of my first tower-trailers (made a contact from the station using the antenna on the tower using ARRL call sign - or maybe it was TO the ARRL station in Connecticut - or both - memory is fading). I just tried to find out when the next one would be, but their domain appears to have been taken over by an advertising site, and I can't find anything past 2017 when using Google - maybe it died...
Have fun if you go. Please report back.

Will do, Ken! I went to the Torrance one too and it was well done. The Yuma Hamfest has served as the SW Division convention since then. The next one is scheduled for February 2022.
Thanks Clayton for feedback. On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, 11:26:51 AM PDT, Ken Alker via SBARC-list sbarc-list@lists.netlojix.com wrote:

That's the problem with living in SB - it would take longer to get to Yuma than to head to Pacificon!
From all I hear about Yuma, I'm assuming it is bigger than Pacificon (and
outside rather than in a hotel; and you have to bring a tent or an RV - totally different venue type ?? ), but I could be wrong...

I’ve been to the one in Yuma. Definitely a hamfest-type venue, plenty of parking space on green grass for RV’s, sprawling grounds for swap meet, several buildings for vendors and forums. Well attended too. I enjoyed it.
