I am itching to build a go-box using a pre-made rack case. I cannot decide if I should go with a 3U or 4U case.
3U is plenty high for an IC7300 and a mobile 2m/440 radio and even a front firing speaker. 4U would give me more room for stuff, but I don't want to add too much stuff to this and make it into a heavy brick.
Anyone build a go box out of a rack case and have an opinion of 3U vs 4U? Thanks, Dave AI6VX
Here are a couple of examples I photographed at the VCARC Field Day last year. I liked Phillip’s box. Although he said it is rather heavy.
