What will Fathers' Day be like without the Santa Maria Swapfest and BBQ? Amateur radio has lost a great Santa Barbara Section tradition.

Eric Lemmon, WB6FLY, called me last Tuesday night to let me know the SARC board of Directors made the decision to cancel the Fathers Day Swapfest. They cited, dwindling participation, not enough people to put it together, marginal profits, rising cost of renting the grounds, etc.

I and lots of other folks do not agree nor understand. That event has been a long-standing, well-attended event on the Central Coast for more years than I care to remember.

Please pass this info on, as I am sure there are a lot of folks out there who are not aware.
