Dear Santa Barbara IMBA Epic Participant,

Two mountain bikers who participated in yesterday's IMBA Epic Ride on the Buckhorn Trail, Sutat Waddington and Steve Meachum, are unaccounted for.

The U.S. Forest Service, Santa Barbara law enforcement officials and backcountry search & rescue professionals are searching for them, and concentrating their efforts in the general vicinity of the Epic route.

They were last seen near the summit of the fireroad climb to the Buckhorn Trail. One theory is that they left the designated route to visit some hot springs.

If you have any information on their whereabouts or course of travel yesterday, please call IMBA immediately, toll free, at 1-888-442-4622.

Sutat is approximately 5'8" tall, thin build, blond hair and riding a yellow Gary Fisher Excalibur with bright yellow wheels. He was wearing a green-and-brown Forest Knolls Freewheelers jersey.

Steve is in his late 40s or early 50s. He is heavier-set and has a graying goatee. He was riding a Santa Cruz Superlight and also wearing a green-and-while Forest Knolls Freewheelers jersey.

We are hopeful that Sutat and Steve will be located soon and safely.
