Alain, Same problem here. What I'm doing is going through each issue of QST from 2007 on and, for the articles I want, scanning them (via a cheap flatbed scanner) into a portable thumb drive. The reason I picked 2007 is because the ARRL has scanned in all issues of QST from it's beginning up to 2007. So for anything prior to '07 I just log on to the ARRL site and download the articles I want in pdf form. Then recycle the magazine. You can fit A LOT of articles onto a 2GB drive! Hope this helps. Santa Barbara Balloon Launch rescheduled for Saturday July 16 at 10am...

Hello SBARC Members and Friends, Our Santa Barbara Balloon Launch is being sponsored by the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum and it may have drifted back to July 19 at 10am from West Beach in Santa Barbara. Location is subject to change based on flight predictions. There is currently no website with info, but watch www.sbarc.org since it will probably have the techie stuff on it first. Www.sbnature.org is the museum site and they'll probably have some publicity on there in the next few days. I'm recruiting people to help with tracking and recovery. Info will be published soon when we nail everything down. We have more payload that we want so some trimming is necessary. That could scratch one or more of our subsystems. Are you interested in tracking, chasing and recovering? Predictions of a landing site have varied from Lancaster/Palmdale to the wilderness north of Ojai and most recently to Pt Mugu. We're packaging for an ocean landing, which hasn't been predicted yet, but is quite possible. Can you swim long distances or do you have a boat? Transmitters will be on several 2m freqs, a 20m freq and possibly 2.4 GHz ATV. We'll be on www.aprs.fi as well as other telemetry freqs and probably with SSTV on 2m. Again, parts of this are subject to change. Something will definitely have to be cut. Let me know how you and any of your friends would like to be involved and we'll make a big party of it! May 17, 1996 Old Timer's Night

I found the tape again that was made of the Old Timer's Night. This was taken at the County Schools Auditorium when that was the regular SBARC meeting location. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5BbIxAsUvw It is listed as 1:21:49 in length. It has some problems and the sound quality is not real good. BUT, it has some great stories and information from some highly respected old timers: Aram Pashgiam, W6JY (SK) Radford Leonard, W6THN (SK) Merle B. Parten, K6DC (SK) The videos were taken by my wife, Barbara, and Bruce Gordon, N6OLT. Marvin, KE6HTS P.S. - Rod Fritz will pick up the tape and hopefully edit it back into a more watchable video.

What To Do With Old QST's?

Hi All, Hope you are having a wonderful 4th of July holiday! It hit 106 degrees near Palomar Observatory today. I've got year 2009 for both QST and CQ magazines. I keep last years while I'm receiving this years magazines. My small shack is beginning to burst from the storage of papers and magazines! I'd rather not just relegate them to the recycle bin! Friends of the Library does not want them. Both ham clubs have monthly meetings; they have plenty. What do you do with your old QST and CQ magazines?? Kenwood KT-310 HTs For Sale

I picked up three Kenwood KT-310 HTs along with two KSC-4 chargers in a box of stuff I bought at the TRW swapmeet. Not a lot of information on the web, but they appear to be 450 - 475 MHz crystal controlled 10 channel HTs. In any case, I have zero use for them. In testing them out, the batteries did take a charge on all three HTs. I only tested them on whatever frequency is in channel 8 (my frequency meter doesn't go to UHF), and all three will transmit and receive. $20.00 for the lot. I can be reached by phone at 687-8881. SBARC Field Day 2011 - It's a Huge Success! Come to Camino Real Marketplace this morning...

SBARC Members and Friends, Our Field Day event has already been a huge success! The turnout of members and public attendees yesterday was the largest I've seen for Field Day in the 34 years I've been in Santa Barbara!!! If you haven't visited our setup yet, please come to Camino Real Marketplace this morning. We have our station on the air until 11am today and there are several displays to see until about 2pm. Some of the programs we're presenting are listed in the attached Schedule of Events. Beyond that, several of us are manning the booths to discuss all facets of Amateur Radio that interest you. Hello SBARC Members and Friends, We're making final preparations for Field Day, which takes place tomorrow and Sunday at Camino Real Marketplace (the Costco/Best Buy mall, near the movie theater). PUBLIC DISPLAY MEETING AT 5PM TODAY - If you will be making a presentation or helping with a display, please join us for a coordination meeting today at 5:00pm at Gina's Restaurant in the Camino Real Marketplace (next to the theater).
