New UHF repeater

29 May 2010 To: SBARC Distribution From: Bill Talanian, W1UUQ Subject: New UHF repeater SBARC has entered into an MOU and facility use agreement with Matt Lechliter, W6KGB, to co-locate a UHF repeater at La Cumbre Peak. The repeater operates on 446.660 output, 441.660 input, with a 131.8 PL. The call sign of the repeater is WB6TZL and is now operational. When enabled the repeater may be linked to additional repeaters by authorized control operators as specified by W6KGB. The repeater is open for all local users. For further information contact Matt at the Cc: address. All applicable rules and operator conduct governing the SBARC repeater systems will also apply to WB6TZL. .end

US ARDF Championships

Hi everyone, We had two competitors this year from Santa Barbara, Jay Hennigan (WB6RDV) and Bill Smathers (KG6HXX) while I helped out with the electronic scoring. Scott Moore, KF6IKO, was still recovering from foot surgery and was unable to attend. You can see the results for both the 2M and 80M hunts here: http://www.usardf2010.com/results.htm You will see the controls marked 201, 202, etc., and the last number is the control number. Number 6 was the control at the start of the finish corridor for the 80M hunt. Our next ARDF event is planned for the weekend of July 10-11 where I'll be doing the orienteering course for one day, and the ARDF (2M and 80M) for both days. The hunts are designed to be advanced, and are preparation for members of the US ARDF team who will be going to the World ARDF Championships in Croatia. Come participate with the Reg Dawe Memorial Cuckoo Net, Monday through Friday from 0700 until 0820, on the following linked repeaters: 146.79 MHz (La Vigia Hill) 223.92 MHz (Santa Cruz Island) 224.08 MHz (La Cumbre Peak) Minus offset, PL 131.8 Started in 1984, this morning net served as a means to keep in touch with Reg Dawe, W6HUT, an eldery ham who had been an elmer to many local hams. The tradition has continued since then. From 0700 until 0800, all things are discussed, from weather, traffic alerts, QSOs, SBARC business, news, and all else. Anyone, anywhere, and any topic. It's a very friendly and welcoming net. Then, at precisely 0800, the net host, Dennis Schwendtner, WB6OBB, officially opens the net, with a chime from his cuckoo clock. This is followed by a roll call, where many people provide a weather report from their location, and news as necessary. D.P.H.S. Electronic Junk Weekend

Hi: This Saturday and Sunday, 22 & 23 May, Dos Pueblos High School is having a Electronic Junk weekend. i.e., they will take computers, monitors, TV sets, etc for free....... Since I live only 1 block west of D.P.H.S., you can drop off any ham radio gear that might be of use to SBARC. i.e., receivers, transmitters, transceivers, amplifiers, test equipment, etc, etc. Tnx & 73's Bill W6FF

Streaming SBARC Meetings...

Of course, we strongly encourage you to attend the SBARC meetings in person... * Eyeball with everyone there * Interact with speakers * Check out the "free stuff" table * Participate in the raffle * Enjoy the excellent snacks * Experience the whole event in 3D with surround sound! However, it you can't be there for some reason, would you watch it on streaming video? We have the technology to transmit the meetings live on the ATV Repeater, on the Internet, or maybe even on 2-meters. If there's interest, I'll try to stream to you on the Internet tonight. If nobody asks me to do this, I won't bother. So send me an email, asking for instructions to receive the stream and I'll see what I can do to make it available. If there's interest, we might make this regularly available. We might even be able to set up real-time two-way audio and video in the future. "Another way that SBARC can better serve you."
