Here is a link to an in-depth article on daylight savings time including history (from its origins of satirical fodder to the debates of the "present day"), examination of empirical results including studies from the 1974 experiment with year-round daylight savings time during the energy crises, and, finally, current studies and research using cost-benefit analysis arguing that Congress should implement year-round daylight savings time: https://www.wakeforestlawreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Calandrillo_LawReview_1.08.pdf

DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME (DST). This weekend it will be time to change your clocks again. Countries in the Northern Hemisphere (most of N. American and some of the Caribbean) who observe Daylight Saving Time should change their clocks on Sunday, March 10th at 2:00 AM, and should move their "local clocks" forward 1 hour to 3:00:00 AM local time. Daylight Saving Time will end on Sunday, November 3rd at 2:00 AM. European countries will switch to DST on March 31st. For the history and details about DST, as well as an interesting map of the world (showing the countries who observe DST), see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time http://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst/2024.html
ADDED NOTES: Hopefully, all amateur radio operators know not to change their GMT/UTC/ZULU clocks. However, since most operators usually set their computers to local time, some may have to change their settings on "some" ham radio software (ex. logging, propagation, DXTelnet, etc..) programs.
