Hi Rod et.al,
I am so elated that the C.E.R.T. program is going so well up in the S.B. area! I have recently been appointed the education coordinator for our C.E.R.T. program down here in Valley Center. Last weekend, both my wife and I took the "T-3" [teach-the-teacher] instructor classes. So now we are both accredited C.E.R.T. instructors.
For those who do not know, Valley Center is a small community of 15,000 citizens about 12 miles SW of the Mt. Palomar Observatory, in northern San Diego County. We've had two [2003 and 2007] wildfires in which most of our citizens were impacted/evac'd.
I'm in the process of putting together a PPT [Powerpoint] program to show the locals, regarding earthquake and wildfire preparedness.
My best to you all!
Alan...N6HPO

Hello SBARC Members and Friends, A few months ago, a few SBARC members attended the CERT Training (see attachments) and we found it very well-done and worthwhile. Basically, it prepares you to assist your family and neighbors during the first 72 hours of a major disaster when local services may not be readily available. Although, the courses listed here are held in the UCSB area, you will be welcome if you’re an outsider as many of us were. If you’re interested, I suggest contacting Jim Caesar by email (see the “From” line below) and do yourself, your family and your community a big favor by completing the course.
