Greetings!
This Friday night, May 18, the Santa Barbara Amateur Radio Club will be holding its annual "Old Timers Night." This is where we pull our oldest radio or related gear out of the cobwebs, clean it up and bring it over to where we hold our monthly club meetings in order to show it off. This is also an opportunity to show ourselves off, if we are "Old Timers."
We will have the traditional countdown to see who has been a ham the longest with the longest still standing after everyone else has sat down. We will also find out who is the oldest ham in the room. We might even find out who is the youngest ham in the room and notice the contrast.
If you are able to bring along something that you feel we would enjoy seeing, please make a small placard to place along side it noting your name, what it is, how it was used and when it was used.
"Old Timers Night" is always a fun event and it is interesting to watch our friends seemingly become Old Timers right before our eyes as the years pass by.
Come give your favorite Old Timer the recognition he or she has earned simply by hanging in there.
Also, if you can, please bring something to place on our refreshment table and don't forget to contribute something to our "Free to Good Home" table.
We hold our monthly meetings at the Goleta Union School District, 401 No. Fairview Ave., which is right across the street from the Goleta Library, about 0.2 miles from Hwy 101 on the mountain (north) side of the freeway.
The meeting begins at 7:30 PM, but please come early so you can meet the folks, peruse the free stuff and get your share of raffle tickets for the drawing.
This is always a great meeting. Don't miss it!
