Hello,
Short notice, I know. Would you like to help us with the Camporall in Santa Maria tomorrow?
If you're interested, call me at 637-0985.
This is the Camporall website.
Regards,
Rod

Hi,
First, thanks for helping with this. We're excited to have you along, and hope you enjoy your time with us. I feel the youth of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties will enjoy your exhibits.
Second, we have maps to show you exactly where to go. I'm assuming you know how to get to the Elks/Unocal Event Center? We're hoping the displays can be ready by 9:00 AM Saturday, but will be happy to have you as your time allows.
Third, my cell is 805-459-9556, and will welcome any questions this brief e-mail doesn't handle. Elmer is also a great source of information.
Fourth, since this is a Boy Scout event, there are certain standards that we hold to. I will gladly meet with you guys once you get there and make sure you understand. Perhaps the most important piece of this whole thing is that we don't do anything without a buddy (this includes adults, so we have a witness of what we did). Nothing really to worry about. As far as clothing goes, please feel free to wear any club ID you may have, it's been my experience that groups like yours have shirts, jackets, hats, etc. Please feel free. The Leader's Guide that others have mentioned talks more about uniforming, please remember that was written with the unit leader in mind, not the exhibitor, as a result you may think we want you in a uniform. Please don't worry about that. We have a scarf (a neckerchief really) that we will share with you (if you'd like it), but it should be obvious to all if you had club ID of some sort.
Again, thanks for helping, if you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to give me a call 805-459-9556. See you on Saturday!
~Lynn

Hello Elmer and Lynn,
The Santa Barbara Amateur Radio Club crew is tentatively planning to arrive by around 9am on Saturday and will stay for the day. Several of us in SBARC are planning to participate in Camporall on Saturday.
We need to coordinate a bit more than we have so we can best serve at the event.
We don't know much at this point about where we can set up and how we can integrate our activities with the rest of those for the scouts. Do we need to register? What do you need to know about our plans?
I'm not aware of anyone coordinating this for SBARC, so I'll volunteer if nobody else comes forward. Darryl Widman is generally our lead man, but I don't think he's available this weekend. If I don't get a call or an email, I'll try contacting you at Elmer Jones @ 805 967-0686.
You can reach me by at 805-637-0985 before and during the event. I also plan to check my rod@sbatv.org email frequently, even during the event (I'll have a wireless Internet connection).
This is what I believe our participation will be.
. HF from the SBARC Rover - Tom Saunders will be bringing our Rover van, which we want to set up for HF operations, elevating our 50-foot tower and installing a beam and an HF wire dipole.
. T-Hunting - I believe we'll have someone demonstrating our T-hunting activity, possibly Marvin Johnston.
. ATV and Robots - I'll bring my van, which will be the focal point for ATV and Robot activities.
Can we park our two vans close to each other in the activity center so they are readily available for scouts to visit? Will there be AC power available for us (if not, we can produce our own at the expense of a little noise)?
We're looking forward to an exciting weekend.
Thank you,
Rod Fritz, WB9KMO
