Anyone interested in competing? If so, let me know and we can start some group training. Besides DFing and physical training, plan on attending Orienteering events to get familiar with reading these types of maps; very important!!!
There are a couple of things to note.
First, the competition will take place at about 7000 feet. That implies it would be a good idea to do some training at high altitude for about a week prior to the event. Of course that is in addition to the regular physical training schedule.
Second, there will be both a 2M and an 80M competition. Equipment for 2M is easy but anyone planning on attending should also plan on building or obtaining an 80M DF receiver.
Third, the frequencies and modulation will be:
145.565MHz?Primary 144.890MHz?Homing beacon MCW F2A, +/- 2 to 3.5 Khz
80 meter event: 3579.5KHz?Primary 3546.8KHz?Homing beacon CW (A1A)
