ATV Movie (8/3) and SB Hamfest (8/14)

Greetings from SBARC ATVSIG, ATV Movie of the Week The ATV Movie of the Week this week will be Dayton ATV Dinner 2010. It will be transmitted at 8:00pm Pacific Time on the WB9KMO-ATN ATV Repeater and will be streamed at that time on www.batc.tv > ATV Repeaters > WB9KMO-ATN. Some, but not all of the movies will uploaded to www.batc.tv > Film Archives for download and on-demand viewing. A few of the videos are intended for presentation only and not for publication. So... If you want to be sure to see the movie, make a point to watch it live at 8pm. 2010 ARRL Santa Barbara Section Convention & Hamfest/Family Reunion The hamfest flyer is attached, describing the event in Santa Barbara on Saturday, August 14. I hope many of you will attend to have fun with us and represent the ATV community. Please let me know if you're planning to attend. If you're willing to help us with the ATVSIG Booth, please let me know as soon as possible. 2010 SBARC Hamfest and ARRL Section Convention

This is your 2010 Hamfest Report, counting down 2 weeks to Saturday August 14 Earl Warren Showgrounds Everything is ready to go with same great layout as last year! Woody's BBQ Also ready to go with the same delicious menu and prices as last year Exhibitors Elecraft with their new amplifier and HRO with tons of gear will be in same locations as last year - all other exhibitors returning + 3 new ones! Speakers Keynote - Wayne Rosing, KD6ALG will be describing the Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope Network Wayne Rosing has been involved as a key player in several landmark projects in the computing industry since the late 1970s. Gaining experience as an engineering manager at DEC and Data General in the 1970s, he became a director of engineering at Apple Computer in the early 1980s. There he led the Apple Lisa project, the forerunner to the Macintosh. He then went on to work at Sun Microsystems and headed the spin-off First Person. At Sun Labs, his team developed Java.Rosing served as Vice President of Engineering at Google from January 2001 to May 2005. He continues to serve as an advisor to Google and is now a senior fellow in mathematical and physical sciences at the University of California, Davis. You are all receiving this notice from me because I felt you were the ones who would like to help the Boy Scouts and Webelos Scouts at our annual Jamboree-on-the-Air -- JOTA, a get-together of Amateur Radio operators and Scouts all over the world at this time of the year. We will be using the facilities of Rancho Alegre, the Scout camp off of Hwy. 154 across from Lake Cachuma in Santa Barbara. Please read the attached letter carefully which has been sent to the leaders of all the Scout units in the Los Padres Council. It will explain "more than you wanted to know" about this great event. True, it is almost 3 months from now but, believe me, to pull off an event of this size takes much advanced planning. Each and every one of you could have an effect on the young people in the Scout units and the impact all of us will have on the Scouts and Webelos Scouts at this event will be monumental. The boys will look back many years from now and remember what they experienced here and, perhaps, will be able to attribute their hobbies and even their livelihoods to what we all did for them. How would you like to be a part of this? That day can come where a young man will come up to you, shake your hand and tell you, "Thank you for what you did for me!" Please contact me as soon as possible andlet me know if you can help us in this great event. As you will read in the attachment, a huge amount of preparation is taking place, right now, to prepare for the JOTA. The sooner I hear from you that you wish to help the Scouts, the sooner we will know if this event can be sucessfully put on for the boys. Thank you! ARRL Southwestern Division Convention in September

Hello All, I know that the SBARC Hamfest and Convention is soon to be upon you. I wish that I were able to attend this year; I'll have to rely on the 220 MHz nets that K6HWN masters so very well, to fill in the gap until I can make it up to SB next year. I did want you to know that the ARRL Southwestern Division Convention is going to be held down here in San Diego next month. Storage Space Needed...

Hello all, I hope you're enjoying the summer. If you have, or know of storage space available, please let me know. This is what I'm looking for... * 100 to 400 square feet of indoor space, at least 8 feet high. * Reasonably well-insulated without extreme temperature or humidity * Lockable and safe, not in a high-crime area * Electricity and lighting are preferred, but not required * Reasonably priced, let's talk about it * Accessible 7 days a week, well into the evening * No stairs or sharp turns required for access, within 40 feet of parking * Sharing a larger space or part of a home or business is OK, near Santa Barbara * Looking at long-term rental (1 to 10 years)beginning in the next month May propagation always work to your benefit, Rod Fritz, WB9KMO 805-637-0985 Cell 805-964-8074 Home
