Kaleidoscope is a girl scout event that will be held at Live Oak
Campground on Saturday, April 30. They are expecting about 500 or so
girls with a variety of activities similar to a Boy Scout Camporee. The
event starts at 9:00AM and finishes about 5:00PM with lunch included. We
should probably be there sometime around 8:30AM to get setup, etc.
Right now, I have three others besides myself and would like one more
person. We are using electronic scoring (epunch) and that part takes one
person and is covered between a friend of mine from LAOC and myself. The
parts that need to be manned are Training/Start/Finish and the Foxoring
course.
The part we are helping with is putting on a couple of short
orienteering courses, and optionally a short foxoring course. Girls who
finish the orienteering course early can opt to try out the foxoring
course. Foxoring is basically an 80M event using 10 mW transmitters. The
idea is to orienteering to near the transmitters using orienteering
techniques, and then find the 80M transmitter using standard 80M RDF
techniques.
Let me know if you are interested as the names needed to be submitted
last week :) for background checks and let the Girl Scouts know who will
be there.
Email is the best way to contact me, marvin(a)west.net, although telephone
also works 805-687-8881.
Thanks!
