145.160 PL change

QST QST QST The K6TZ 145.160 Repeater operating from Santa Ynez Peak has undergone two major changes this week. The antenna was relocated to a mast with a lower noise floor. In addition both input and output PL are now 127.3 Hz. The repeater system will be on-link with wd6eby at Sulphur Mountain in Ventura County. Would appreciate low level input signal reports and area of coverage. More later as we move forward. Bill Talanian Trustee

Icom IC-7300 users out there?

Gigaparts, HRO and Main Trading all have a black Friday sale on the Icom IC-7300 ($999.95 after $100 rebate). Best part is the wife said I could get one :) Bad part is that I tend to over analyze things and sure enough I'm doing it with this radio. Question for the group - do any of you have firsthand experience with this radio especially in an environment with high noise (power lines mostly I think). Upcoming bylaws vote - dangerous precedent

There are two proposals on tonight's ballot. One is for the membership to approve a dues increase from $24 per year to $35 per year. I am in favor of this. It has been a very long time since the dues were raised, inflation has taken its toll, our systems are aging, and we have taken on many new projects. QST QST QST ARES will be conducting a county-wide communications exercise with the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department and the Office of Emergency Management on Thursday, November 16, from 0800 to 1200 hours. (Set up will be at 0800 with comm checks around 0830. The drill itself will start at 0900 hours.) I know each and everyone who have long been forgotten. Would one be so offended if I were to post an American Flag and say, Have a Happy Fourth. I would hope not. At every SBARC general meeting in a public building we all stand and Pledge Allegiance to the Flag. Everyone stands and it is common to place ones hand over their heart. Even non-citizens stand in this observance in recognition of our sovereignty. I am accorded the option of rendering a hand salute as a veteran. There is nothing political here to offend anyone. If one is so offended by a simple patriotic posting on the ListServer then the power is in their hands to use the delete button.
