The w6yjo 145.18 Santa Ynez Peak repeater is back on the air with the
original Mstr II system after conversion to a uMstr by Matt Lechliter,
w6kgb. A new RLC Controller has been installed and integrated with a new
Tait 224.12 repeater. We will now have the capability to cross connect
systems as determined by the operations personnel. It will take a little
time to get the new controller totally organized with macros, scheduler,
and timers but it is now possible to do so remotely through our 5.8 gHz
link. The scuttlebutt is to merge specific on-command operations by
linking 146.79 with 145.18. This may now be possible with micro
computers and our 5.8 link. More importantly it is a technical challenge
to the tech team at coming up with sources and methods.
As most of you know the 145.18 system has been plagued for years by a
low level signal on the input frequency. It is extremely low but can
desense the input signal. This low level input might be heard as a low
rumble sound or worse which mixes with low input signals. Our input PL
is still 131.8 but the output PL was changed to 146.2. This is an
attempt at further isolating the system from extraneous signals which
would at times cause a longer hang time.
With all the new changes we will be interested in any unusual system
