Transmitter hunts at ARRL Convention

Transmitter hunting will be a prominent part of the ARRL Southwestern Division Convention, September 9 - 11, 2005 at the Riverside Convention Center in Riverside, California. Joe Moell K0OV presents "What's New in Radio Direction Finding?" on Saturday at 1:00 PM in the Citrus Heritage room. Included will be photos and stories of the USA and IARU Region 2 ARDF Championships in Albuquerque at the beginning of August. Jay Thompson W6JAY will speak about "Getting Started in ARDF" on Saturday at 8:30 AM. Hear him tell about his trips to the World Championships. Marvin Johnston KE6HTS will lead a pair of two-hour workshops where you can build your own tape-measure RDF yagi for two meters or another VHF/UHF band. You can also learn about offset attenuators there. If you can't attend his workshop on Saturday at 9:30 AM, there will be another at the same time on Sunday. All of the above presentations will be in the Citrus Heritage room. The official convention transmitter hunt will be an all-on-foot one-fox event on Saturday at 5:30 PM, put on by the Citrus Belt Amateur Radio Club. Will there also be some unofficial hunts? Hello Everyone - I have a brand new EMTECH NW40 - a 40 meter QRP kit still in the box - never got around to building it. It h is complete with board enclosure and every thing you need to get on the air. EMTECH now sells only the board kit (without a cabinet) and they want $80. I also have a Freq-Mite - A PIC-based Morse Frequency Counter that I bought for about $20 to install in the kit. I'd like to sell both. I'd like to get about $75 for the package - or make me an offer. Hamfest - Tri-tips, etc.

Hi everyone, I want to try something a bit different this year and allow people to order cooked tri-tips ahead of time. The price will be $10.00 each either cooked or uncooked for a whole tri-tip. The uncooked weight with the extra fat cut off will probably be about 2 1/4 pounds and I expect to have about 15 tri-tips available. If you are interested, please send an email to Jug at mike-j(a)ix.netcom.com with the number that you would like. These are offered on a first come/first served basis and we will also have them for sale at Hamfest if we have any left. Tomorrow (Friday) we will be meeting at the Elk's Grove at 4:00 PM to set up the canopies, clean the tables, and put the tables in place to get ready for Hamfest on Saturday.
