Hi Tony, I notice you didn't get any replies, probably because nobody has tried that substitution! I wasn't familiar with the 6P3S so I searched for a datasheet and from that decided that it was likely borderline too lightweight for use as a replacement. I then looked on one of the guitar amp forums which confirmed that but apparently there is a 6P3SE which is more robust and OK as a 6L6 substitute - bearing in mind of course that the 6L6s used in 50s' amps are more robust versions of the very original 6L6.
